Macau’s Guia Circuit, home of the Macau Grand Prix, has an old soul. From humble origins in 1954 as an amateur street race, it has grown to be one of the world’s most prestigious modern racetracks. Aside from small changes for driver safety and spectator consideration – the track is still very much the same as the one that was braved by local drivers over 60 years ago.
It has all the hallmarks of classic street racing – tight corners that push drivers to the limit and long and narrow straights that invite blistering speeds of up to 275km/h. These challenging features make the Macau Grand Prix the most must-see event of the Formula 3 racing calendar and 2015 is no exception.
The FIA F3 Intercontinental Cup returns as one of the weekend’s signature events. Since 1983 this race has been host to some of history’s greatest drivers when they were on their way up, including Ayrton Senna (1983), Michael Schumacher (1990) and Sebastian Vettel (2005). This year’s 28-car field features future motorsport icons, Charles Leclerc and returning 2014 Macau Winner, Felix Rosenqvist. Fans can also see the 49th Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix and the Macau Guia Race 2.0T.
2015 will also see the first ever FIA GT World Cup at the Macau Grand Prix. This prestigious event is a mark of Macau’s important position in motorsport and has attracted entries from elite manufactures – Aston Martin, Audi, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche will all be on show as 24 drivers from 14 countries and territories test their skills on the track. Germany’s Maro Engel, winner of the Macau GT Cup last year, returns with the Mercedes AMG while five-time winner on the Guia Circuit Edoardo Mortara heads the Audi squad and Porsche brings none other than 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours winner and works driver Earl Bamber of New Zealand.
Grand Prix Museum
Racing historians will not be able to resist diving into the history of the Macau Grand Prix at the Grand Prix Museum. Motorsport enthusiasts can get up close to both vintage and modern touring cars, F3 cars and participate in a race simulator that places you behind the wheel on the Guia Circuit.

Visiting Macau
Macau is easily accessed by ferry from Hong Kong. If you are travelling to Macau from mainland China, you will require a separate visa as it is a Special Administrative Region and has slightly different entry and exit regulations.
